What is a Water Softener?
A water softener is a device that absorbs and removes hardness components dissolved in tap water—such as calcium ions, magnesium ions, iron, and manganese—through a cation exchange resin to convert it into soft water. It automatically regenerates the ion exchange resin using specialized salt and operates without any complicated manual adjustments.
Soft water has a low content of inorganic minerals, which softens the skin and enhances cleansing power. On the other hand, hard water not only roughens the skin but also adversely affects home water heaters and plumbing, shortening their lifespan.
